Workers at Honda's factory in Swindon will carry on working a two-day week until at least September.

The plant cut its output in April after the earthquake and tsunami in Japan affected its supply of components.

It is the third time the carmaker has delayed the date for full production to start again.

The workforce is to stay on full pay during this period, while building up a balance of hours to owe the firm.

"I am proud of all of our associates [employees] as they have shown great flexibility and commitment during this difficult time," a spokesman said.

The 11 March disaster in north-east Japan led to Japanese manufacturers, including Honda, reducing production in the wake of damage to plants.
