Two people escape arson attack on Scarborough flat
Two people had to escape through a window after an arson attack on a flat, police said.
A number of items, including a mattress, were set alight outside the building in Manham Hill, Scarborough, early on Thursday morning.
Nobody was seriously injured in the blaze, which caused a window to be blown out and extensive damage to the apartment's kitchen and hallway.
North Yorkshire Police is appealing for doorbell camera or CCTV footage.
A force spokesman said: "This was a serious incident which caused extensive damage to someone's home.
"A man and woman escaped and luckily no lives were lost.
"We're urging anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to contact our officers as soon as possible."
