Ballynahinch arson attack: Petrol bombs thrown at police

Petrol bombs have been thrown at police officers as they responded to reports of an arson attack at a car sales business in Ballynahinch, County Down.

Shortly before 01:50 BST on Friday, a fire at the business on the Antrim Road was reported to police.

Damage was caused to a window and carpet of an office. Two petrol bombs were thrown at officers as they arrived and smashed on the ground.

Three other petrol bombs were thrown in the incident.

Police said no injuries were reported.

Another petrol bomb found on top of a car had burnt itself out.

Police said a number of nearby homes were searched as part of an ongoing investigation.

Two petrol bombs were seized and a 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of breach of a bench warrant.
