The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said it was believed that the fire was started deliberately and "was caused by pouring an accelerant over the door".

Police have appealed for information about the incident.

'Reckless attack'

North Down Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) assembly member Stephen Dunne said it was an "abhorrent attack".

"There is absolutely no place for this type of activity," he said.

"This fire could have had very serious consequences, and I know this reckless attack has shocked the local community."
