Spate of crashes as temperatures plunge
Police in Scotland have dealt with 25 road collisions in widespread freezing conditions.
The Met Office said the lowest temperature recorded overnight was -9C, at Dalwhinnie in the central Highlands - not quite as cold as predicted.
Forecasters said high pressure was creating clear and calm conditions, and dragging in cold arctic air.
Conditions are forecast to remain cold, with a widespread frost by Monday morning.
Asking drivers to take additional care, Police Scotland said: "Slow down and be mindful of conditions on roads that may not have not been gritted."
