Man charged after stabbing outside Edinburgh theatre
A 42-year-old man has been charged in connection with a stabbing outside a theatre in Edinburgh.
The 41-year-old victim was standing in an alcove at the Kings Theatre on Tarvit Street when he was attacked at about 21:45 on Thursday.
He is being treated in hospital for lacerations and puncture wounds to his body. His condition is not thought to be life-threatening.
The 42-year-old is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday.
Officers said they believed three men were involved in the "very violent" attack, which is being treated as attempted murder.
They appealed for witnesses and said they were following a positive line of inquiry.
Det Sgt Mark Lumsden, of Police Scotland, said: "This has been a very violent assault, which left the victim with several painful injuries requiring medical attention.
"We are currently pursuing a number of lines of investigation to identify those responsible but are really keen to hear from anyone who was in or around Tarvit Street on Thursday evening and witnessed what happened.
"In addition, anyone with any further information relevant to our ongoing inquiries is also urged to contact police immediately."
