Extradited man in court over Edinburgh sex attack
A man who was arrested at Edinburgh Airport following his extradition from Germany has appeared in court on a sexual assault charge.
Marco Groger, 31, made no plea when he appeared in private at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on a charge of assault with intent to rape.
Mr Groger was granted bail pending a future court hearing.
It followed an incident in the city's Salisbury Place on 2 October 2016, when a 19-year-old woman was attacked.
Mr Groger, whose address was given as Germany, was detained by Police Scotland officers at Edinburgh Airport on Tuesday.
Detectives from the Scottish capital's Public Protection Unit contacted counterparts in Germany resulting in Mr Groger's extradition and subsequent detention.
Det Sgt David Brady, of Police Scotland, said: "This is a complex inquiry that has required continued engagement with colleagues in Germany and we are grateful for their assistance."
