Man charged over Edinburgh parking attendant attack

A man has been charged after the alleged stabbing of a parking attendant in Edinburgh.

Eamonn Gallagher, 38 appeared at the city's sheriff court over the incident on Monday.

Police Scotland said the 49-year-old attendant was taken to the city's Royal Infirmary after a serious assault on Gorgie Road.

Mr Gallagher, of West Lothian, made no plea on a charge of assault with to severe injury and danger to life.

Officers cordoned off the street near a McDonald's restaurant for several hours after the incident at about 16:25.

Parking enforcer NSL, which works for City of Edinburgh Council, confirmed one of its attendants was involved.

Mr Gallagher is due to appear again within the next eight days.
