Teenage boy dies and six people taken to hospital after crash

A teenage boy died and six people were taken to hospital following a two-car crash in East Ayrshire.
Lewis Campbell, 15, from Cumnock, was a passenger in one of the cars. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police were called to Boig Road near New Cumnock at about 18:00 on Tuesday after the crash between a Peugeot 208 and a Nissan Qashqai.
One woman and five teenagers were taken to the University Hospital Crosshouse in Kilmarnock after the collision.
They included the 18-year-old male driver of the Peugeot and an 18-year-old woman and 19-year-old man who, along with the crash victim, were passengers.
A 54-year-old woman had been driving the other car with two passengers, a girl aged 13 and a boy aged 15.
The road remains closed while crash investigations are carried out and police are asking for anyone with information .
