Christmas lights on a family's home on Skye can be seen from miles away at night against the backdrop of the island's snow-capped hills.

The Macraes from Portree have held a party at their house for the last four years to mark the switch on of the outdoor display.

Visitors to the property in Viewfield Road give donations for Skye and Lochalsh Cossroads Care.

The Macraes have collected £600 for the charity so far.

Ewen Macrae said his family were pleased they had been able to turn their fascination with festival lights into a good cause.

Homes across the Highlands and Islands have been decorated in the run up to Christmas.

Two neighbours in Inverness have been among those to put up outdoor lights and decorations.
