A wildfire next to the railway line at Glenfinnan in the Highlands disrupted train services between Glasgow and Mallaig for several hours on Friday.

The line at the scene was closed and trains were terminating and starting back from Fort William until it was reopened.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said it was alerted to the blaze at about 11:00.

It said the flames had affected an area of 50 acres.

A fire service spokeswoman said four fire appliances were called to the scene and firefighters used beaters and water jets to tackle the blaze.

The wildfire is one of a number to have broken out across Scotland in the past few days during a spell of dry and sunny weather.
