New channel to protect Kingussie from floods

  • Published

Highland Council and a landowner are to jointly fund a scheme designed to better protect Kingussie from flooding.

The channel across Pitmain Estate's land will divert swollen waters from the Allt Mor burn into the River Gynack via Loch Gynack.

Water from the channel will also be used to power a hydro scheme owned by the estate.

The flood alleviation scheme forms part of wider work to reduce flood risk in parts of Badenoch and Strathspey.
