Two fishermen seriously injured off Isle of Lewis

Two fishermen have been badly hurt on a boat 100 miles north-west of Lewis in the Western Isles.

HM Coastguard said it was alerted just before 04:30 to the men being seriously injured in an incident on the fishing boat.

The Stornoway Coastguard helicopter flew the men to Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway, Lewis.

NHS Western Isles said surgeons from Aberdeen and a medical team from Glasgow had been assisting.
