Woman killed and three seriously hurt in three-vehicle crash near Inverness

A woman has died and three other people seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash near Inverness.

The 51-year-old was travelling with two other people in a Tesla car on the A96 at Redhill when it collided with a Citroen Dispatch van and a heavy goods vehicle.

The woman was taken to Raigmore Hospital but died from her injuries.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to contact them about the incident, which happened at about 12:10.

A 53-year-old man who was also in the Tesla is currently in a critical condition in Raigmore.

Another person travelling in the car, a 23-year-old man, is receiving treatment for serious injuries.

The male driver of the Citroen van, who is aged 37, was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

His condition was described as serious.

The driver of the HGV, a 69-year-old man, was uninjured.

Police Scotland said a full investigation has been launched into the crash, and asked any witnesses to .

Sgt Calum MacAuley said: "Our thoughts are with the families of those impacted by this collision. A full investigation is under way to establish the full circumstances of how this collision occurred. I am appealing to anyone who was on the A96 who may have seen the vehicles or witnessed the crash to contact us.

"Motorists with dashcam equipment are asked to check their footage as there may be images which could assist our ongoing inquiries."
