Prime Minister David Cameron has said members of the Moray Task Force will be invited to London to discuss concerns for the future of defence jobs.

Mr Cameron wrote in a letter to the authority's convener, George McIntyre, it had not been possible to meet before now due to other commitments.

The meeting will be arranged through Defence Secretary Liam Fox.

It is feared RAF Lossiemouth's Tornados may be moved to the RAF Marham base in Norfolk.

Up to 7,000 people took part in a march and rally in support of the RAF base on Sunday.

The Ministry of Defence has said no decision has been reached about RAF Lossiemouth's future.

The campaign to secure the future of Lossiemouth comes amid fears for Moray's other RAF base at Kinloss, after the UK government announced it was cancelling the next generation of Nimrod reconnaissance aircraft, which would have been stationed there.
