Pedestrian 'critical' after being hit by van on A90
A pedestrian is in a critical condition in hospital after he was struck by a van on the A90 outside Aberdeen.
The accident involving a white Mercedes Sprinter van happened on the southbound carriageway near Kingswells at 01:55.
The 18-year-old was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the van was not injured.
Police said the road was closed for about 12 hours to allow for an investigation at the scene.
Sgt Steve Manson said: "I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time of the crash or who may have seen either the pedestrian or the vehicle prior to the incident to
"I would also ask anyone with dashcam footage which may assist our investigation to contact us.
