Man and woman seriously hurt in crash on A96 near Colpy
A man and a woman in their 70s have been seriously hurt after a crash on the A96 near Colpy in Aberdeenshire.
Emergency services were called to reports of a crash involving a lorry and four cars at about 14:15.
Police said the incident happened on the Inverurie to Huntly road, near Morgan McVeigh's restaurant.
A 74-year-old man and a 73-year-old woman from one car were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where their condition was described as "serious".
The Scottish Ambulance Service said a special operations team, trauma team and air ambulance had been dispatched.
The road was closed to allow for a full investigation into the cause of the crash to take place.
Sgt Sarah Ritchie from Police Scotland's road policing unit at Inverurie said: "We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash take place to ."
