Man sentenced for trolling former Aberdeen South MP Ross Thomson

A Dundee man who sent abusive and threatening messages to a former Conservative MP has been sentenced to a 50-day curfew.

Reece Cuthbert admitted repeatedly targeting Ross Thomson, who was MP for Aberdeen South between June 2017 and November 2019, on Facebook.

Cuthbert, 26, previously admitted sending grossly offensive messages to Mr Thomson in July 2019.

Mr Thomson who did not seek re-election to the Aberdeen South seat in 2019.

He was accused of groping a former Labour MP in a House of Commons bar, but later cleared by the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards following an inquiry.
