The Prince of Wales is given a gift of daffodils from Teah (left), 6, and her sister Amelia, 4, during his St David's Day visit to the town of Llandovery in Carmarthenshire.

The prince met singer Rhydian Roberts during his visit to Llandovery College.

Prince Charles was at the college, along with Chinese ambassador Liu Xiaoming, to open the first Confucius classroom in Wales.

While in the west Wales town the royal visitor sampled one of Elizabeth McGill"s Welsh cakes.

Elsewhere the day was being celebrated at the London Welsh Centre with the help of a flag of St David adorned with 2011 daffodils. Picture by James Thomas.

In Criccieth, Gwynedd, four-year-old Jac doffed his cap to St David along with Ella, 5.

Five-year-old Llanw Aerau posed in the sun in Pontllyfni, Gwynedd, on the way to school.

Twins Lili and Joshua, aged three-and-a-half, also celebrated St. Davids Day in traditional Welsh costume in Bexley, Kent.

And it was a very special day for five-month-old Gracie Anne from Crickhowell, Powys - her first St David's Day.
