Help

To mark Sir Paul McCartney's 70th birthday, 大象传媒 Wales has uncovered some 1967 footage of The Beatles in Bangor.

On Sunday 27 August, two days after The Beatles' arrival in north Wales news broke of the death of their manager Brian Epstein.

The band had gone to Bangor to study transcendental meditation with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

News of Epstein's death had already reached the British press, and reporters were gathering around the college entrance.

McCartney immediately made his way back to London, but John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, visibly shocked by the news, spoke briefly to reporters before leaving Wales. The sound quality on the recording is relatively poor and it was not broadcast at the time.

In 2002, Bangor University unveiled a plaque to commemorate the 35th anniversary of The Beatles' visit in the Hugh Owen Hall, which is now part of Bangor Business School's Management Centre.
