Cardiff City memorabilia sells for 拢28,000 at auction
Cardiff City memorabilia, including a programme from the club's 1927 FA Cup final victory against Arsenal, has sold at auction for more than 拢28,000.
About 40 items went under the hammer on Saturday, more than doubling the estimate of 拢12,500 by Lockdales Auctioneers.
The programme sold for 拢1,100, with two cup final tickets selling for 拢360.
Cardiff City bought some memorabilia, including many of the items linked to its 1927 FA Cup win.
Chris Elmy, of Lockdales, said: "I can tell you that Cardiff City were bidding strongly and they got the most important items.
"This was arguably the finest collection of football memorabilia we have dealt with.
"We've sold the first Arsenal programme when the club played at Highbury but this was a unique collection."
A collection of ledgers, payment records and wages books, dated between 1915 and 1972, went for 拢4,000.
Fans hope the items will be placed in a museum.
