Hirwaun: Boy, 13, dies in hospital after being hit by car

A 13-year-old boy has died in hospital after being hit by a car.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Brecon Road in Hirwaun, Rhondda Cynon Taf, at 18:25 GMT on Thursday after a brown Ford Fiesta hit a pedestrian.

The 13-year-old boy has been named as Kaylan Hippsley, from Hirwaun.

A 19-year-old man from Hirwaun appeared at Cardiff Magistrates' Court on Saturday charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He was also charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

Police are continuing to investigate the collision and are appealing for witnesses and footage.
