Wales' oldest person Mary Keir celebrates 112th birthday
The oldest person in Wales has celebrated her 112th birthday.
Mary Keir was surrounded by friends and family for a roast lunch followed by sherry trifle and then a buffet in the evening.
She spent the big day at Awel Tywi Residential Home in Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire, where she has lived for 12 years.
Mrs Keir is actively involved in life at the home, where she takes part in activities, entertainment and meetings.
Carmarthenshire council said she was also a keen lover of music, in particular the piano which had been a lifelong passion.
Mrs Keir worked as a ward sister and district nurse and lived in Llansteffan independently until just before her 100th birthday.
"Mary, our mother and mother-in-law still has a great will and determination," her son Robert Keir and daughter-in law Sian Keir said in a statement.
"She has received fantastic care at Awel Tywi and we really appreciate everything that the amazing staff do for her every day," they added.
Pupils from Ysgol Ffairfach, as well as Dinefwr Male Voice Choir, also visited the care home to celebrate.
