Work on a £1.4m steel disabled access footbridge and ramp at Chirk railway station could begin in January.

Network Rail has submitted the plans for the structure, to be painted "holly green" and cream, to Wrexham council as part of is Access for All programme.

The footbridge will provide wheelchair access to both sides of the north-south platform for the first time.

If the plans put in last month area are approved, the work is expected to take around six months to complete.

Wrexham council said no date had yet been fixed to decide the matter.
