Crews fight fire at Billybanks flats in Penarth
Five fire crews have tackled a blaze at a derelict housing estate in the Vale of Glamorgan.
A blaze took hold in third and fourth floor maisonettes at the old Penarth Heights estate, known as the Billybanks flats, in Penarth.
The South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said the fire spread to the roof.
Crews from Cardiff Central, Penarth, Ely, Whitchurch and Barry were sent to the fire at 18:13 GMT on Wednesday and left at 21:40.
The fire service said firefighters had to use a hydraulic platform, breathing apparatus and water jets.
There have been several fires at the flats, which have become a target for vandals and squatters, in recent years.
A new housing development is set to replace the existing homes by 2017.
