A man from Pembroke has died after falling from a balcony in Ibiza.

Grant Weston, 24, from the Pembrokeshire town had been on holiday with a large group of friends when he died in San Antonio on Wednesday.

Police on the island are questioning his friends but his death is not being treated as suspicious.

A Foreign Office spokesman confirmed his death and said Mr Weston's parents, Kim and Sheila, were being provided with consular assistance.

Mr Weston lived with his parents and brother who have been too upset to comment.

He died after a night out with friends.

Mr Weston played for Hundleton village's football team.

The team's manager Mark Powell paid tribute to the former player.

"He was a genuine lad," he said.

"He had everything to live for and it's so cruel that he has been taken away from us. He had a brilliant sense of humour and I have known him for the past eight years.

"It's a shock, I feel for his family and he will be a great loss to our football club."

Hundleton committee member Paul Jones added: "He was a lovely lad. Quiet but very likeable and he was an excellent footballer.

"We are devastated by this tragic event and he will be sadly missed. Our hearts reach out his family at this extremely sad time."

The football team has pulled out of a game against Pennar Robins on Wednesday as a mark of respect.

A Foreign Office spokesman said: "We can confirm the death of a British national, Grant Weston, in Ibiza on August 14th.

"We are providing consular assistance to the family at this difficult time."
