Mark James opted to step aside while the investigation took place
The chief executive of Carmarthenshire council who stepped down while police investigated possible unlawful payments to him, is back at work.
Gloucester Constabulary launched the probe after the Wales Audit Office ruling over cash payments to Mark James made in lieu of employer pension contributions.
But no evidence suggesting criminal offences had taken place was found.
Mr James was present at Wednesday's full council meeting.
The police inquiry also found no evidence to suggest that criminal offences at Pembrokeshire council relating to chief executive Bryn Parry Jones who remained in post throughout the inquiry.
