Your pictures: Defeat
Every week we publish a gallery of readers' pictures on a set theme. This week the theme was defeat and we start with a photograph taken by Yasir Hasan of a man lying down at a railway station in India who he thought appeared "defeated by poverty and hunger."
Shaan Foltz: "This is a photo taken of a dragonfly eating a delicious meal. Not sure what species of bug it is eating, but it was certainly defeated."
Laurence Ang: "One eye was enough to see the reality of defeat during a Tae Kwon Do competition at the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in Singapore."
Sylviane Moss: "The Douaumont ossuary cemetery, Verdun. Victorious or defeated, remember them."
Dana Pasca-Hossu: "A tough math question caused a burst of frustration. Defeated? Nothing a coffee break and a new pencil cannot fix."
Jasper Dalgliesh: "This lion had been fighting and had lost judging from his recent scar. He was in the Ruaha National Park in Tanzania."
Sanjay Wadh: "Good and Evil - arch nemesis, yet no one accepts defeat!"
Abigail Foulsham: "A spider moves slyly towards a moth!"
Tarl Vetter: "A team fail to stop a steer during a ranch rodeo in Burden, Kansas, USA. Although it looks painful, the downed woman was fine and returned to compete in the next event."
And finally...a picture sent in by Sean Anderson. Our next theme is playtime. If you'd like to enter, send your pictures to yourpics@bbc.co.uk. Further details and terms can be seen on the photo blog; just follow the link below this gallery.
