Donegal: Man drowns after incident near island

An Irish Coast Guard helicopter was sent to the incident

A man has drowned in an incident near Arranmore island in County Donegal in the Republic of Ireland.

It is understood he had been swimming at Leadbh Gharbh beach on Monday afternoon when he got into difficulties.

An RNLI lifeboat on the island was sent to the scene at about 14:50 local time.

An Irish Coast Guard helicopter from Sligo also responded to the incident.
