Woman dies after car plunges into Cork river

A woman in her 40s has died and two children are receiving treatment after the car they were travelling in plunged into a river in Cork.
The woman was Gillian Daly from the Douglas area,
The incident occurred at Kennedy Quay in the city at around 20:45 local time on Friday.
Two children were rescued from the water and taken to Cork University Hospital to receive treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
Bystanders pulled the children from the water after they freed themselves from the car, RTÉ News said.
Firefighters, ambulance crews and a coastguard helicopter responded to the incident.
The woman's body was recovered from the River Lee by specialist naval divers after the car was lifted by a crane at around 00:30 on Saturday.
Gardaà (Irish police) said a post-mortem examination would be carried out to determine the course of its investigation.
