Guernsey disabled access information made public

Guernsey's inclusion on a website will help to stop disabled people feeling shut out of places, the island's disability and equalities officer said.

Emily Yerby said it was step on the way to ensuring everyone had access to businesses and services in the island.

The States has joined disabledgo.com to provide information on access for more than 500 venues in the island.

The guide, which will also be available in a hard copy, includes details such as accessible toilets and parking.

Ms Yerby said: "We all expect to be treated with respect and to have dignity when we go out, and the fact that disabled people are having to make choices to go to places where they know they will have that respect and dignity is hardly acceptable in this day and age."
