Last call for Guernsey Christmas trees

Guernsey Waste is reminding islanders there is still time to drop off their real Christmas trees at a waste site for recycling.

Every year about 6,000 Christmas trees in Guernsey are recycled as part of a free service.

The trees are then shredded, before being composted and processed into a soil conditioner.

Islanders are then able to collect and use the conditioner to improve their soil at no charge.

''Our soil conditioner is great for mulching and digging into your flower and vegetable beds," said waste minimisation and sustainability officer Douglas Button

Trees can be dropped off at Queux Patio Plant Centre, Le Friquet Garden Centre, Chouet green waste site and at the Longue Hougue Household Waste and Recycling Centre.
