Douglas to get more parking spaces

More parking spaces are to be created in the capital of the Isle of Man, the government has said.

The department of infrastructure is planning to create an extra 50 spaces behind Lord Street in Douglas.

The government intends spending about 拢35,000 on resurfacing work in the area.

Andrew Wallis, from the department of infrastructure, said the work should pay for itself in parking charges within 10 months.

Mr Wallis said: "When we were looking at the resurfacing work we took the opportunity to look at the layout and as a result of what we planned we can now get an extra 50 spaces on site."

The car park will be closed overnight between 17:30 and 06:00 until the work is completed at the beginning of August.
