Tynwald approves 拢3m airport security improvement plan
The Isle of Man's parliament has approved a 拢3m spend on new security measures at the island's airport.
The baggage and X-ray equipment will bring Ronaldsway airport in line with recent EU regulations.
Infrastructure minister David Cretney said if the new machines were not in place by September it would create problems for passengers.
He added that without the investment, island passengers would be restricted to carrying hand luggage only.
It is thought the changes will also avoid passenger delays and extra security searches for island passengers once they arrive in the United Kingdom.
The total cost of the airport scheme is 拢3,216,779. Approval was given after a debate in Tynwald on Tuesday.
