The evening ferry sailing from the Isle of Man to Lancashire has been cancelled due to forecasted gale force winds.

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has called off the Ben-my-Chree's 20:15 BST sailing from Douglas to Heysham along with its overnight return.

A decision over Wednesday's ferry sailings will be made at 07:00.

Ronaldsway Met Office has warned strong winds overnight could cause coastal overtopping during high tides at 01:50 and 14:00 on Wednesday.

Forecasters have warned large waves could see debris washed on to roads in coastal areas, with promenades in Douglas, Laxey and Ramsey particularly at risk, which could lead to damage to parked cars and disrupt traffic.

The amber warning has been put in place from 23:00 until 16:00 on Wednesday.
