St Ouen to celebrate royal wedding with community event
Parishioners in St Ouen have been invited to a community celebration for the royal wedding.
The wedding day of Prince William and Kate Middleton will be a bank holiday in Jersey, as well as in the UK.
Invitations have been sent to islanders to toast the royal couple on the St Ouen parish green, with entertainment and food and drink - including cake and champagne.
The celebration starts at 1500 BST on Friday 29 April.
St Ouen Constable Ken Vibert said: "Once you have seen the wedding on the television, it really stops and everybody goes off to the reception - unless you have not been invited like some people - so you want something to finish the day, so we thought this would be an ideal way to show our support of the royal couple."
He said he had chosen the parish green for the celebration because he was proud of the work done over 30 years to set it up.
