Late Easter a 'problem' for shops in Jersey

  • Published

The late Easter and extra bank holiday could dent any recovery being experienced by Jersey shopkeepers, according to the town centre manager.

Richard Mackenzie said although shops did not have to close for the Royal Wedding, it had come at a bad time.

He said there were signs of a recovery with the number of people passing through St Helier up 17% on the same week in 2010.

He said: "A late Easter also means the holiday season starts a bit later."
