A new service has been launched to reduce bullying at work in Jersey.

The counselling and support service is being run by the Community Relations Trust and will be open to everyone.

A recent bullying survey found that about 40% of the 830 people who had responded said they had been bullied in the previous 12 months.

As a result The Community Relations Trust has set up a counselling and advocacy service to help those who have been bullied.

The survey found that the most common locations for bullying to take place were at work and at school.

A part-time counsellor has been employed to help people being bullied and give advice to people who witness bullying.

Alison Fox, a counsellor with the trust, said: "It is also the people around who are observing and don't know what to do.

"Now this service is up and running they have got somewhere to go and speak to as well - not just the person who is targeted."
