A national television campaign to promote Jersey has been launched by the tourism office.

It is part of Jersey Tourism's 拢1m advertising campaign, which focuses on local people as ambassadors, including singer Nerina Pallot.

The 30-second TV advert was given an early launch on Boxing Day on some satellite channels after the States provided an extra 拢70,000.

The advertisement was being shown on terrestrial channels from 9 January.

The States of Jersey gave Jersey Tourism the money to launch the advert early between Christmas and the New Year.

Since the extra television advertising, Jersey Tourism said up to four times as many people have been to their website as the same time last year.

Monday, 3 January was the busiest day on record for the tourism website, with over 14,000 visits, up from 4,000 in 2011.

The TV commercial will play out more than 1,800 times during January and will run until the end of April.

The commercial also features tour guide Arthur Lamy, oyster farmer and water sports enthusiast Chris Le Masurier and artist Nicholas Romeril.
