Nicola Weir

Nicola Weir is fiercely proud of her Ballymena roots, having lived and worked in the area for over 30 years.

Nicola Weir

Nicola Weir, our North-East Reporter

She attended Ballymena Academy and continued her education at Queen's University in Belfast and Belfast Institute of Further and Higher Education.

Nicola started her journalism career in the Coleraine Times, working in other editions of the paper, including the Antrim and Ballymena Times. She then moved to the Chronicle Group, deputy editing the weekly newspapers' output in Ballycastle, Ballmoney and Coleraine.

Nicola joined 大象传媒 Northern Ireland in 2004, reporting for radio news and current affairs, covering stories for radio bulletins, Talkback, Good Morning Ulster and Evening Extra.

Now, she will be bringing her wide knowledge of her home town and beyond to the 'telly' as the North East correspondent for 大象传媒 Newsline.

Nicola is based in Ballymena, and will be covering news from Coleraine to Ballymena - and everywhere in between!

Nicola is married to Peter, and is kept very busy outside work with her two children George and Imogen. She admits a passion for country music, shopping and collecting antique books and can be often found roaming Ballymena's town centre bargaining with the traders for a discount!
