Rural Planning Changes

The new planning policy that should allow more building in the countryside.

Six weeks ago the Environment Minister Sammy Wilson announced an end to the planning policy which had virtually banned the building of any new rural housing.

Out went PPS14, and in came PPS21, which should make it easier to build replacement dwellings and allow farming families to build on their land.

In Omagh alone, more than seven hundred applications which had been refused are now being re-examined.

Our reporter in the West Julian Fowler has been finding out what impact the new policy is having.
