The final of the first ever Formula E Championship took place in London over the weekend.

Brazilian driver Nelson Piquet Junior took the title by a single point.

Formula E uses high speed racing cars that look just like the ones used in Formula 1 but the difference is, they're all electric to make them more environmentally friendly.

The electric cars can reach top speeds of about 140 miles per hour.

They sound different too because of the special engines.

The one-hour races see the drivers have to change cars halfway through, as a battery has not yet been developed to provide enough power for a full race.

Ricky even got to taste the fuel used to power up the electric cars - an environmentally friendly, odourless, non-toxic liquid called glycerine.

The 10-race season came to a dramatic close in London's Battersea Park on Sunday 28 June.
