Poetry is a great way to express yourself, share how you feel, or to tell a story.

Things can be difficult at the moment and poetry can be a great way of helping you cope with how you feel.

You can write a poem about absolutely anything you want.

It can be serious, fun, happy or sad.

There are no boundaries to poetry!

We caught up with two young poetry award winners, a professional poet and even an England footballer, Jill Scott, to see what poetry means to them.

Tip 1: Read lots of other poetry, get inspired by it!

Tip 2: Keep a diary about what's going on at home, real life events are great for inspiration.

Tip 3: Compare things to other things, for example 'the light bulb in my room, burned like the sun'.

Tip 4: Be honest with your poetry, write about what's important to you or how you feel.

Tip 5: Perform your poem for your family in lockdown.
