The Planet Earth III DLC has been created by Minecraft Education and 大象传媒 Earth to be released in 2024.

Last year Minecraft launched the Frozen Planet II DLC, offering five frozen worlds for players to explore and learn in.

This time players will be able to play through some of Earth's most diverse landscapes - biomes - as well as meeting creatures in-game that feature in the TV series.

This years annual mob vote winner is... The Armadillo!

Armadillo came out top of the vote with a 42.3% win - beating Crab, who came in second place with 32.5% and penguin with 25.2% - to join the game permanently in a future update.

It can be found in the savannah biome and is a pretty shy creature. If you startle it, it will curl up into a blocky ball!

The armadillo drops a scute that you can use to craft a new type of armor, wolf armor, which can give player's pet wolves some extra protection.

The next big update heading to the main game will be the 1.21 update.

The new update doesn't have a name yet, but Minecraft said it will be revealed later, and released midway through 2024.

The team showed off some of the new features coming to the game, including trial chambers - which allow players to face off against unique underground areas packed with traps, trial spawners, mobs, loot, and more that changes each time players tackle it.

A new hostile mob called The Breeze will also appear during these trials. They move by jumping and shooting wind energy at players that explode, as well as exploding immediately if they run into a player.

The team also showed off some of the new blocks heading to the game in the 1.21 update, which include tuff and copper blocks, which can be used to create copper bulbs.
