2024 is fast approaching and it's a big year for European football.

Euro 2024 takes place this summer, with the tournament being held in Germany from 14 June to 14 July.

The draw has now been completed and we also know which teams are in with a chance of qualifying through the play-offs.

Here are five things we've learned so far.

Scotland will take on hosts Germany during the Euro 2024 opening match

The first match of Euro 2024 takes place at the Allianz Arena, which is the home of German club Bayern Munich.

It'll see the first two Group A teams facing off, with Scotland taking on the competition's hosts Germany during the very first game on 14 June.

Former Scotland forward James McFadden said Scotland will be "confident" they can get though to the next round.

"It's a tough group, I'm not going to lie and say I'm delighted with the group," he told 大象传媒 Two.

"The opening game against Germany will be a great occasion and all the pressure will be on Germany to go and get a result, and that should suit Scotland because against the better sides they tend to do OK."

Scotland will then play Switzerland on 19 June and Hungary on 23 June during the group stages.

England are happy with their draw

England are in group C alongside Slovenia, Denmark and Serbia, a draw which has been received positively.

Former England striker Alan Shearer said the team's manager Gareth Southgate will be "extremely happy" with the draw.

"I think it's pretty favourable when you look at some of the teams that have been drawn out against each other."

However, England manager Gareth Southgate said all the teams in Group C are "more than capable".

"You can look at it on paper, but the games aren't played on paper," Southgate said.

England, who were Euro 2020 finalists, will begin their campaign on 16 June against Serbia. They'll then play Denmark on 20 June and Slovenia on the 25 June.

Wales are looking to qualify next March when they face Finland in their play-off match

Wales failed to automatically qualify for Euro 2024 after drawing during their game against Turkey last month.

They'll now play Finland in a Euro 2024 play-off semi-final in Cardiff on 21 March.

The winner of the match in March will face Poland or Estonia five days later with the winner of that match getting the prize of a place at the championship in Germany.

If Wales do qualify, their first game will be against the Netherlands on 16 June. They'll then go on to play Austria and Kylian Mbappe's home nation France, who are currently ranked second in the world.

Cristiano Ronaldo currently holds the record for the player with the most international appearances ever, with more than 200 caps and nearly 130 goals during his career.

It's thought next year's Euros may be his last time playing for Portugal and it's also a chance for the sportsman to extend his impressive record.

Portugal will be facing Turkey, Czech Republic and one of the play-off winners during the group stages of the tournament.

Erling Haaland won't be at the Euros

Erling Haaland fans won't be seeing him at Euro 2024

Erling Haaland has been smashing it since he joined the Premier League.

However, being a Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup Treble winner doesn't guarantee a spot at the Euros.

Haaland scored six of Norway's 14 goals in qualifying, but will be absent when the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Harry Kane and Kevin de Bruyne are all expected to be in action for their countries at Euro 2024.

It's after Norway failed to qualify for the Euros.
