Eid al-Fitr begin when a new crescent moon appears in the evening sky, which means that Eid can be on a different day each year.
In 2024, Eid al-Fitr falls on Wednesday 10 April, following the sighting of the crescent moon by religious leaders.

Children are also often given money, called Eidiyah or Eidi.
