Team GB skateboarder Sky Brown has been cleared to compete in the Olympics after injuring her shoulder.

Brown, who won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Games three years ago, suffered a dislocation injury a day before she travelled to Paris.

The 16-year-old is due to compete in the women's Park skateboarding on 6 August.

Brown described the injury as "scary" and says her shoulder will need surgery after the Olympics.

Sky Brown: 'I am strong and I believe in myself'

After the injury, Sky was checked by Team GB doctors and physios and they have deemed her fit to compete in Paris.

"When I get back I'll have to do surgery, so it [shoulder] doesn't come out again," said Sky.

"They're bringing some braces tomorrow and I will try it out and have to be strapped for every time I skate.

Explaining that injury comes with being an Olympic athlete, Sky said: "There is this side of it too, [you] can鈥檛 let some fall or pain stop you from what you want to do. I am strong and I believe in myself and I hope it inspires."
