Happy howlidays! Rescued dogs looking for homes receive a royal welcome
Four-legged friends from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home received a royal welcome at the King and Queen's Highgrove country estate in Gloucestershire.
Percy, Darcie, Elspeth, Harper, Missy and Shadow are certainly not barking up the wrong Christmas tree - they were invited to Highgrove for a photoshoot as they are looking for new homes this festive season.
They posed on special footstools made from recycled curtains from Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace -created by students and groups working with The King's Foundation charity.
Queen Camilla is a patron of Battersea Dogs and Cats Home and has adopted dogs from there.
What did the dogs think of their royal visit?
Kaye Mughal, from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, said: "They enjoyed the day out, experiencing visiting a new place and getting into the festive spirit.
"They also enjoyed testing out some of the unique footstools and have officially given them their approval."
Queen Camilla, who is patron of Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, recently said farewell to one of her rescue dogs, Beth, a 13-year-old Jack Russell terrier who passed away.
Camilla adopted Beth as a three-month-old puppy in 2011, followed by another Jack Russell, Bluebell, a year later - after the dog was found wandering alone in a London park.
The King reportedly said that he and the Queen would be looking at getting a new dog.
Asked whether the Queen might be tempted by any of the visiting dogs, a royal source said: "While it's a little too soon for Her Majesty to start deciding on a new friend for Bluebell, she remains a great supporter of all the work that Battersea Dogs and Cats home does in finding loving homes for all their rescue pets - not just for Christmas but forever."
Let's hope these furry friends get their wishes granted by Santa Paws!
