The Broadside Festival is set within the broadside villages of Ranworth, South Walsham, Upton and Woodbastwick. Located in the centre of the Norfolk Broads, one of the most picturesque areas of East Anglia, the area has inspired artists for generations and continues to attract thousands of visitors every year. "The festival is now in its second year. We wish to invite people to Broadland to enjoy the heritage of the landscape and its key buildings," said festival spokesperson Andrew McFadyen. "We are lucky to have a wealth of creative talent in this region, and so we have been inspired to organise an annual celebration of arts and music using key venues within the Broadside villages. "Each village offers unique venues, ranging from the water's edge to historic medieval churches, providing a series of stunning environments for these events to take place in and for audiences to enjoy," he added. Featuring artists and performers based locally and from further afield, the festival works towards ensuring the preservation of this unique area of Norfolk. The aim of the festival is to celebrate music and the arts within a magnificent Broadland setting, whilst raising money for local charities. "This year's seven day music and arts festival builds on the huge success of 2004 with performances of samba, opera, folk and classical music," said Andrew McFayden. "We hope you will enjoy an unforgettable experience within the stunning open air settings of the Broads," he added. The proceeds of the festival are split between a nominated local charity, and the upkeep of the church buildings which are integral to the built environment of these villages. The money raised from year's festival will be split between the Norfolk and Norwich Association for the Blind, who celebrate their bi-centenery this year, and the upkeep and maintenance of the magnificent church buildings in Ranworth, South Walsham, Upton and Woodbastwick.
