Roy goes Spanish

Take part in 大象传媒 Radio Norfolk's guide to learning Spanish with Roy Waller. Download your lesson pack from this website and then enjoy the course at your leisure as we publish them online week-by-week.

If you've wanted to learn Spanish, but have never been able to commit to an official course, now is your chance - but be warned, the naughty boy at the back of your virtual class will be Radio Norfolk's Roy Waller.

Spanish is the official language of 21 countries and more than 100 million people speak it as their second language.

With budget flights to Spain now available from Norfolk, it's no surprise that many people living in the county know somebody who lives, works or has holidayed there.

Roy goes Spanish

Back in 2003, the 大象传媒 Radio Norfolk Action Desk challenged morning show presenter Roy Waller to 'go French' with an on-air course. It was such a huge success with listeners that this year the challenge is to 'go Spanish'.

Over 10 weeks, Roy will be learning the basics of speaking Spanish and you can join in with every noun, verb and syllable along the way.

"The French lessons were a success last year and I'm looking forward to the new challenge," said Roy.

"Spain is a great country and I normally head for the golf courses, but learning Spanish will make sure I don't get my face slapped as I normally do!

"Let's all join in and enjoy the lesson. We'll all be in the same boat and I can't wait to get started," he added.

To take part download the learning manual from this website and then listen back to the weekly lessons Roy has with Spanish tutor Nieves Marina.

"I'm thrilled to be given this opportunity to share my love of the Spanish language with people in Norfolk and I know that Roy just can't wait to get started," said Nieves.

At the end of the course you should be able to grasp basic Spanish phrases.

If the radio course then whets your appetite, you can then contact the 大象传媒 Radio Norfolk Action Desk for details of courses in your part of the county.

So what are you waiting for? Download your learning manual and get ready for the first lesson on Tuesday 7 March, 2006 from 1015 GMT.

If you miss the lesson when it is first broadcast, each one will be available for you to 'listen again' - the links will appear on this page.

Lesson pack by post

If you don't have a printer and would ike a hard copy of the Spanish learning manual, call the Radio Norfolk Action Desk on 01603 631631 to have a lesson pack posted (UK only).
